{"id":191,"date":"2014-05-11T10:44:00","date_gmt":"2014-05-11T08:44:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.seewind.org\/wp\/?page_id=191"},"modified":"2025-08-05T13:52:56","modified_gmt":"2025-08-05T11:52:56","slug":"wp-7-micro-scale-simulations","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/seewind.fm-media-staging.at\/?page_id=191","title":{"rendered":"WP 7 &#8211; Micro-scale simulations"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Objectives<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>To calculate site parameters relevant for mechanical loads (turbulence, wind shear, flow inclination, extreme wind conditions).<\/li>\n<li>To calculate the expected energy yield of the wind farms<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Description of work<\/h3>\n<p>Evaluation of on-site wind measurement data.<\/p>\n<p>Short-term correlation of wind measurement data using the Measure-Correlate-Predict method.<\/p>\n<p>Three-dimensional micro-scale flow simulations with 2 different Navier-Stokes solvers.<\/p>\n<p>A flow model developed by DEWI based on the CFD-Software Phoenics will be applied.<\/p>\n<p>Parallel to this, the Windsim commercial software will be applied by MET-SW using the same input data as used for the DEWI model.<\/p>\n<p>Assessment and processing of long-term wind data.<\/p>\n<p>This task is based on some of the findings of <a title=\"WP 3 \u2013 Wind measurements at pilot sites\" href=\"https:\/\/seewind.fm-media-staging.at\/wp\/?page_id=182\">(WP 3<\/a>) and\u00a0 (<a title=\"WP 4 \u2013 Vertical wind profile in complex terrain\" href=\"https:\/\/seewind.fm-media-staging.at\/wp\/?page_id=185\">WP 4<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The long-term wind data that was re-assessed (<a title=\"WP 5 \u2013 Local wind systems\" href=\"https:\/\/seewind.fm-media-staging.at\/wp\/?page_id=187\">WP 5<\/a>) or simulated (<a title=\"WP 6 \u2013 Meso-scale Simulations\" href=\"https:\/\/seewind.fm-media-staging.at\/wp\/?page_id=189\">WP 6<\/a>) is analysed and also compared with the on-site measurements. Based on this assessment an appropriate known method for the long-term correlation of the on-site wind data is selected and applied.<\/p>\n<p>Final post-processing of the flow simulation results and the long-term correlated wind data, to derive mean wind, turbulence, wind shear, flow inclination and extreme wind conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Comparison of the results of the two models and verification of the calculations with appropriate on-site wind measurements.<\/p>\n<p>Calculation of the expected energy yield of the wind farm.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>WP-Responsibility<\/h3>\n<p><a title=\"Deutsches Wind Energie Institut Gmbh (DEWI)\" href=\"https:\/\/seewind.fm-media-staging.at\/wp\/?page_id=58\">DEWI<\/a> is the leader of the work package &#8218;Micro-scale simulations&#8216;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Objectives To calculate site parameters relevant for mechanical loads (turbulence, wind shear, flow inclination, extreme wind conditions).
